Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

How Does It Work?

Acupuncture is part of a 5,000-year-old system of medicine developed in China. The Chinese medical scholars believed the body’s energy, called Qi, flowed through specific pathways in the body called meridians. Along these meridians were energy nodes (areas that qi gathers) commonly called "points” that could influence the flow of energy that associated with organs and the parts of the body. By placing needles at these points it was thought that it could strongly influence the energy of the body, directing its movement, correcting imbalances within the meridians and organs.

Today, modern research findings are consistent with the ancient application of this technique. Western medical researchers, led by the National Institutes of Health, have done numerous studies that have consistently found positive effects within the body.
